Arcadia : Car for Planning Director
The city will buy an $18,850 car for Planning Director Bill Woolard to use on the job.
The City Council voted 4 to 1 to purchase the 1991 Buick Regal sedan from Thorson-Oldsmobile Buick in Pomona.
Councilman George W. Fasching voted no, saying employees are reimbursed for travel expenses and may use city-owned vehicles.
Alex McIntyre, assistant to the city manager, said most of the city’s department heads have cars, including the police and fire chiefs and the public works and water managers.
The decision to buy the car was made during budget discussions in June because the director needs it for field operations and emergency calls, McIntyre said.
