Nick Van Lue, who led Narbonne High to its first L.A. City Section baseball title a month ago, has been officially named baseball coach at El Camino College.
The school’s board of directors approved Van Lue’s hiring at its meeting Thursday, according to Dave Shannon, associate athletic director at El Camino College.
Shannon said the board also approved the hiring of two part-time coaches. One will be an assistant to men’s basketball Coach Paul Landreaux and the other a replacement for women’s volleyball Coach Mary McLaughlin, who will continue to teach at the school.
Van Lue will inherit a struggling El Camino baseball program. The Warriors were 27-48-1 under Glen LeVier in the past two seasons. Last year El Camino finished 13-27 overall and 8-16 in South Coast Conference play.
