Motorist King Sells Movie Option for Beating Story

Rodney G. King, the motorist whose videotaped beating by Los Angeles police officers shocked the nation, has sold an option to a film company to make a movie about the incident, his attorney said Monday.
King, 26, was clubbed after a March 3 traffic stop in suburban Lake View Terrace. Amateur cameraman George Holliday recorded the beating from his apartment balcony and sold it to a television station. Attorney Steven Lerman said his client sold an option to a Los Angeles-based production company, but refused to name the firm or terms of the deal.
King’s aunt, Angela King, said other members of the King family are “against it because this whole crisis has really affected the family badly.”
