Noriega Lawyers Given More Time Before Trial

MIAMI — A judge Friday delayed Manuel A. Noriega’s trial until Sept. 3, after the defense pleaded for more time to sift through mountains of classified material.
The former Panamanian dictator’s attorneys on Wednesday had asked U.S. District Judge William M. Hoeveler to postpone the scheduled July 22 trial on drug charges until the end of September, and the judge issued his ruling Friday afternoon.
