Man Killed in Race in Construction Zone

TUSTIN — A 51-year-old man killed Friday when he lost control of his pickup truck during a race with another vehicle on a road that is under construction, authorities said.
Leandro V. Ramirez of El Toro was driving north on Jamboree Road south of Edinger Avenue about 6:40 p.m. when he crashed into several pallets of cinder blocks, a Tustin police dispatcher said.
Ramirez was dead on arrival at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
The driver of the other car left the scene, authorities said. An investigation is continuing.
