International Lease Finance Corp. said it is holding talks with America West Airlines Inc. about the carrier’s request to suspend lease payments on some planes. Phoenix-based America West, the ninth-largest U.S. airline, has 110 planes, most of them Boeing jetliners, serving 55 cities in the United States and western Canada. On Thursday, it said it wanted all its aircraft providers to agree to a three-month deferral of payments. A spokesman for ILFC, a Beverly Hills-based unit of American International Group Inc., said that America West was paid up through Friday and that it expects no fallout from the airline’s cash flow problems.
