Long Beach : Asian Businessman Named to Disney Advisory Panel
- Share via
Mony Nou, a Cambodian businessman who owns a supermarket and several other businesses, has been appointed to the citizens committee that will advise Long Beach officials on the Walt Disney Co. proposal to build a huge theme park on the city’s waterfront.
Nou, nominated by Vice Mayor Jeffrey A. Kellogg, is the only Asian on the 55-member advisory committee, which has been criticized for failing to include members of the city’s substantial minority population. Long Beach’s Cambodian community is the world’s largest outside of Cambodia.
Nou replaces Patrick Rodriguez, who recently resigned from the committee’s environmental impact section.
