DIGEST : CLU Senior Bernard Finishes 7th in 400 Meters in NAIA Championships

Darren Bernard of Cal Lutheran placed seventh in the men’s 400 meters in the National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics track and field championships at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Tex., on Saturday.
Bernard, a senior from Thousand Oaks High, was timed in 47.48 seconds. Anthony Christie of Prairie View A & M won the race in 46.34.
Pat Huston, a two-time All-Western State Conference baseball player for Pierce College, signed a contract with the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.
The 1989 Montclair Prep graduate will report to the Cubs’ extended spring training camp in Mesa, Ariz., next week.
