One person was killed and at least nine were injured when lightning struck a crowd of students on the grounds of fashionable St. Albans prep school in the nation’s capital during a lacrosse match with Landon Boys School. At least five victims were reported taken to hospitals, with one in serious condition. The incident occurred when students sought shelter under a tree during a thunderstorm, and lightning struck the tree. The students at St. Albans generally come from wealthy and influential families.
