The Saddleback College men’s tennis team won its second consecutive State dual team championship by defeating West Valley of Saratoga, 5-2, in the State tournament Thursday at Chabot College in Hayward.
Saddleback, which defeated Long Beach last week in the finals of the Southern California Regionals, won four of the six singles matches.
Scott Hansen defeated Hasaime Yamanaka, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, in No. 1 singles, Esteban Saba defeated Lennart Eilestam, 6-1, 6-3, in No. 2 singles and Frank Krnac defeated Mayur Naik, 6-3, 6-2, in No. 4 singles for Saddleback.
Hansen and Saba also teamed to defeat Yamanaka and Martin Crampton in No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 6-3, to clinch the victory.
Saddleback has won four consecutive State championships, winning the team tournament championship in 1989, and both the dual team and tournament team championships in ’88.
