FULLERTON : Weed Abatement Program in Force
- Share via
Property owners who are letting their weeds grow out of control will be given notices by the Fire Department to remove them in the city’s annual weed abatement program.
Lots not cleared by Thursday will be posted by the department’s Fire Prevention Bureau, and the city’s weed removal contractor will cut down the weeds.
Property owners will then be billed for the work plus a 30% administrative fee.
Because of the drought, the need to clear the weeds is especially urgent, Fire Marshal Larry Green said.
Green said that if the city removes the weeds, property owners have until July 15 to pay the bill or appeal it to the City Council.
If the council rejects the appeal, the cost will be added to the owner’s property tax bill.
If property owners decide to clear the weeds themselves, the city has certain guidelines that must be followed.
For information about the program, call Corrie Allen, fire specialist in the Fire Department, at (714) 738-5354.
