Florinda Mintz has been hired as the new administrative director for Relampago del Cielo Mexican folk dance company of Santa Ana, effective immediately. Mintz, who works part time in Santa Ana’s Recreation and Community Services Agency, replaces Carol Vargas, who left to start another dance troupe, according to Relampago board member Manuel Pena.

Two new officers were announced Friday by the Irvine Barclay Theatre. Peter A. Bassi, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Taco Bell Corp. in Irvine, will be the new chairman of the board of directors. Bassi succeeds Richard G. Sim, who served a five-year term as the theater’s first chairman. Gary Brooks, president of Brooks Insurance Services in Newport Beach, will succeed Thomas H. Nielsen as chairman of the board of trustees.
