DOLPHINS

Thank you for printing “Loving Dolphins to Death,” by David Weddle (April 7).
What’s love got to do with it? Those who capture and confine these beautiful mammals and those who ooh and ah at their “cute,” “humanlike” and unnatural behavior practice a strange kind of love, indeed. Those, such as “Moby” Solangi, who try to hide their unethical behavior under the guise of science, are beneath contempt.
The final quote by Richard O’Barry states the issue quite succinctly. The public must be educated, must be sensitized, must be awakened to the plight of cetaceans and, I might add, all the other sentient beings we continue to capture, kill, torture and enslave.
