The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team’s season came to an end Saturday afternoon in San Luis Obispo, as the Toros lost a doubleheader to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 5-4 and 8-3.
Combined with Friday night’s 7-3 loss to Cal Poly, Dominguez Hills finished the season 27-23-1 overall and 14-16 in CCAA play. Cal Poly (26-20 overall, 18-11 in league play) moved into first place in the league with the sweep and plays UC Riverside for the conference title this afternoon at San Luis Obispo.
Going into the weekend series, the Toros were still alive for an NCAA Division II regional playoff berth, but Friday’s loss combined with a UC Riverside victory over Cal Poly Pomona put an end to the that.
