PORT HUENEME : Support Ship Comes Home From Gulf
- Share via
The naval support ship Curtiss and its crew of 24 Marines from Camp Pendleton returned Saturday morning to the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Port Hueneme after spending nearly 10 months in the Persian Gulf.
The ship, which is normally docked in Port Hueneme, was used in the Gulf as a repair station for damaged aircraft parts.
About 200 Marines were assigned to the ship while it was anchored at the Saudi Arabian port of Jubail, but the majority were flown home in early March.
About 90 family members and friends gathered at the Seabee base shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday to welcome home the Marines still aboard the ship.
