VENTURA : Boy Hit by Car Dies After Week in Coma

An 11-year-old boy, who was hit by a car May 2, died without regaining consciousness, authorities said Saturday.
Michael Anthony Walsh of Ventura died Thursday of severe head injuries received when he darted out from the sidewalk of Telephone Road near Cachuma Avenue into the path of a vehicle driven by Vera Sommerville of Santa Paula, authorities said.
Michael was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.
He remained in a coma in critical condition for a week, hospital officials said.
On Thursday, Walsh was pronounced brain dead, and his organs were removed for transplant, said Dale Zentzis, Ventura County coroner’s investigator.
