‘Coming to America’ Damages Discussed: Columnist Art Buchwald and producer Alain Bernheim’s compensation for “Coming to America” should be based on what others have received for comparable contributions to blockbuster movies, an attorney for the two argued in the latest court briefs submitted in their suit against Paramount Pictures. A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge has ruled that certain provisions of Buchwald and Bernheim’s contract with Paramount were “unconscionable.” Paramount has asked the judge to limit damage considerations in the case to the seven contractual points he found objectionable.
