PREP ROUNDUP : Longeway Strikes Out All 15 Batters She Faces

Cheryl Longeway struck out the 15 batters she faced as Kennedy defeated Los Amigos, 17-0, in a Garden Grove League softball game shortened by the mercy rule.
Longeway (19-2) leads Orange County pitchers with 231 strikeouts. Lana Jimenez had three hits, three stolen bases and scored three times for host Kennedy (21-2, 12-1).
In an Empire League softball game:
Katella 1, El Dorado 0 (11 innings)--Kelsi Armbruster (9-2) threw a three-hitter for host Katella (14-6, 8-1), which clinched its first league title since 1977. With two outs, Melissa Benbow singled home Tammy Lohmann with the winning run.
In the Freeway League boys’ tennis finals:
Championships--Sunny Hills sophomore David Robbins defeated teammate Brad Borsari, 6-4, 6-2, to win the singles championship and Jon Messrah and Jason Nevadomsky of Sunny Hills beat Ryan Hartshorn and Bobby Valagati of Fullerton, 6-4, 6-2, in doubles at the Sunny Hills Racquet Club in Fullerton.
In the Empire League boys’ tennis finals:
Semifinals--Cameran Lindee of Loara and Mike Hammer of Esperanza advanced to today’s singles final at 1 p.m. at the Old Ranch Tennis Club in Los Alamitos. Lindee, seeded No. 1, defeated Jason Overell of Loara, 6-1, 6-0, and second-seeded Hammer defeated Leonard West of Cypress, 6-2, 6-2.
