Women’s Volleyball Tournament Gets Moved to Camp Pendleton

The Women’s Professional Volleyball Assn. beach tournament scheduled for June 29-30 has been moved from the Huntington Beach Pier to Club del Beach in Camp Pendleton, WPVA officials announced Monday.
Officials had to move the tournament after the Huntington Beach City Council voted in March to ban all advertising of alcoholic beverages on city beaches. Coors Light beer, one of the tour’s sponsors, displays its banners at the tournaments.
Roxanne Vargas, WPVA executive director, said the event is “more for the troops than the general public. It’s our salute to the military. This is a deal we struck with Camp Pendleton.”
The tournament had been an annual event at the Huntington Beach Pier for the past four years.
