Crespi Rallies to Beat St. Bernard, 8-7

Casey Snow singled in the winning run in the seventh inning as Crespi High rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat St. Bernard, 8-7, in a Mission League baseball game Saturday at Valley College.
With the score tied, 7-7, and runners at first and second with nobody out in the seventh, Crespi’s Chris Maurizi singled to left. Pinch-runner Joe Ruggiero was thrown out at the plate, however.
After a wild pitch moved the runners to second and third, Casey Snow (two for two) singled home the winning run. The victory assures Crespi (15-8, 8-2) of no worse than a second-place finish in league play and keeps the team tied for first with St. Paul with two games remaining in the regular season.
Jim Horacek and Brody VanWagenen each had three hits for Crespi, which trailed, 4-0, in the first. Kyle Carden added two hits for the Celts. Sophomore Jeff Suppan (6-3) earned the victory in relief of starter Phil Aghajanian.
