COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titans Beat Santa Barbara to Remain in Second Place

Cal State Fullerton routed UC Santa Barbara, 14-7, in Big West Conference baseball Saturday to remain in second place in the league.
Fullerton (30-21, 12-5) stayed ahead of Cal State Long Beach, which defeated league-leading Fresno State, 6-2, Saturday.
The Titans’ Steve Sisco went three for four with a homer, a double and three runs batted in. Frank Charles was three for six with a double and three RBIs and Jason Moler hit a three-run home run. Jack Bailey (6-2) was the winner.
Santa Barbara (27-23-1, 6-11) hit three home runs, all with the bases empty.
In another Big West Conference baseball game:
UC Irvine 3, San Jose State 2--Neil Weingarten’s two-out single in the fourth inning drove in Billy Bardens to give UC Irvine a 3-2 advantage at San Jose State. Bardens hit a two-out double to lead off the fourth inning. Irvine (23-29, 5-12) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Mike Goodcase hit a two-out double to drive in Al Rodriguez. Bryant Winslow scored on the same play when the left fielder made a throwing error.
In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. baseball:
Cal Poly Pomona 7, Chapman 3--Shannon Wright had two hits, including a two-run home run in the first inning, scored twice and had three RBIs and Romiro Garcia had three hits and scored twice for visiting Cal Poly Pomona (26-24, 17-10).
In Golden State Athletic Conference baseball:
Southern California College 6-3, Christ College Irvine 10-2--Brett Johnson (10-4) pitched his ninth complete game of the season and Justin Pysar went two-for-two with a double and RBI for Southern California College (27-23, 14-6) in the second game. Lou Simon had three hits, including a two-run home run in the seventh inning and had four RBIs for Christ College Irvine (28-15-1, 11-9).
In pool play of the Sonoma State softball tournament:
Chapman 2, Sonoma State 1 (eight innings)--Cheri Schreck pitched seven innings allowing four hits and Jackie Blake got the victory by pitching the top of the eighth inning. Blake and Kristina Webb each had two hits for Chapman and Sandy Olivas scored from second after a throwing error in the eighth inning.
Chapman 10, College of Notre Dame 0 (five innings)--Schreck had a one-hitter and Laura Papadakis hit a bases-loaded triple for Chapman (43-11).
