USC basketball Coach George Raveling, reacting to a survey showing that fewer than half of college basketball and football players receive degrees, said the quality of education, not graduation rates, should be the concern.
Raveling and Notre Dame’s Digger Phelps said figures released this week by the Chronicle of Higher Education are misleading. The weekly journal studied five-year graduation rates for students who were freshmen in 1984.
