Pomona : City Staff Layoffs Feared
City Administrator Julio Fuentes told the City Council this week that the city will have to lay off employees in the next fiscal year unless revenue is increased, but he did not say how many jobs might be cut.
Fuentes said he will submit a list of potential staff reductions to the council after he reviews other ways of saving money, including reductions in contract services.
Council members said they will not consider tax increases until they see next year’s proposed budget. An advisory group that studied city revenues has recommended that the city delay planned reductions in the utility tax if it needs more revenue.
