Westmont Wins District Title

Chad Kammerer made three three-point shots to spark an 18-8 run during the second half that lifted Westmont past Biola, 68-59, in the National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics District 3 title game at Whittier College Tuesday night.
After Biola (26-7) opened a 27-17 lead, Westmont (21-9) finished the first half with a 10-0 run that tied the score at intermission.
Kammerer, the game’s leading scorer with 25 points, made six of nine three-point attempts. Emilio Kovacic led Biola with 17 points.
Westmont advances to the NAIA tournament beginning March 12 in Kansas City, Mo. Westmont won its last district title during the 1987-88 season; Biola won it the following season.
