The South Orange County Chamber of Commerce is planning the county’s first Mayors’ Ball, a black-tie event intended to honor South County’s top elected officials.
The dinner-dance, which will be held March 2 at the Dana Point Resort, will bring South County leaders together for the first time and will allow Chamber of Commerce members to mingle with elected officials, chamber president Pat Crockett said.
“We ask people all the time to support candidates,” said Crockett, whose organization, a political action committee, endorses candidates for city, county and state offices. “We feel it’s important they have some access to these people during the year, and this is one opportunity for them to do that.”
Mayors from Irvine, Mission Viejo, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel and San Clemente will be on hand, Crockett said. Mayors from Laguna Beach and San Juan Capistrano will not be attending, she said. Council members and other city officials are expected to be on hand for the $75-per-plate dinner.
Other residents are also welcome, but reservations are required. More than 200 people are expected. For information, call (714) 837-3000.
