U.S. to Challenge Airbus Payments: A dispute over subsidies to European aircraft maker Airbus Industrie escalated when Trade Representative Carla Anderson Hills said the United States will file a complaint charging that such payments violate world trade rules. The complaint, to be filed under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, involves German payments intended to offset fluctuations in exchange rates. It contends Airbus has an unfair advantage over rivals Boeing Co. and McDonnell Douglas Corp.
