CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A 3-year-old boy abandoned at a Clarksburg church wouldn’t give police a clue toward his identity, but a woman detained today in Huntington admitted she abandoned the child, police said.
The woman and a man were seen in an older model car with Ontario license plates that fit the description of a car seen minutes before the child was discovered Monday sitting in a pew at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Clarksburg Police Sgt. John Walker said.
The boy was clutching a stuffed, windup rabbit that played “Peter Cottontail.”
“I went up and said ‘Hi, where’s your mommy?’ said Father Cesidio J. Federico. “He said, ‘No mommy. No mommy.”’
Walker said he will seek warrants for the arrest of the pair.
