GTE Corp.: The telecommunications company reported fourth-quarter earnings of $413 million for 1990, a jump of 5.4% from the 1989 period, on revenue of $4.7 billion, down 2%. Annual earnings were $1.5 billion, up 9%, on revenue of $18.4 billion, up 5%. The Stamford, Conn.-based company cited increased minutes-of-use of local-exchange networks for long distance, lower operating costs for domestic phone companies and a 19% hike in revenue from telecommunications products and services such as cellular-mobile service and directory advertising.
