War Tactics

Schwarzkopf has put the lie to the promise of President Bush that “never again will our armed forces be sent to do a job with one hand tied behind their back.” The general stated that “those pilots are at much more risk than they would be otherwise” because of a deliberate United States decision to avoid unnecessary civilian casualties. The general also noted that certain targets cannot be attacked at all.
Such political restrictions are contemptible and disgraceful. They are the Vietnam Syndrome resurrected.
The President would do well to emulate Harry Truman and Dwight Eisenhower and authorize the most powerful weapons available. For the present purpose, enhanced radiation weapons (neutron bombs) would be particularly effective.
How many U.S. soldiers is Bush willing to sacrifice to avoid the use of weapons that will win the war in short order?
