Monrovia : Math Educator Honored

Educator Jaime Escalante, a Monrovia resident, was honored by the City Council last week for his successes with high school mathematics students.
Escalante, who settled in Monrovia in 1963 when he immigrated to the United States from Bolivia, was the subject of the movie “Stand and Deliver.”
He appeared at Tuesday’s council meeting to accept a plaque declaring last Tuesday “Jaime Escalante Day” in Monrovia.
