Redford’s Causes

Re “the recalcitrant” Robert Redford: Small wonder. After reading the beginning of Hilary De Vries’ cover story (Dec. 9), I’m amazed he isn’t a downright recluse.

She actually starts the article by noting that the Dec. 9 TV special about Redford was “not a program about American Indian rights or off-shore oil drilling or global warming or any of the other left-of-center political causes the actor has lent his name and money to over the years.”

It sort of makes you wonder--if simple humanitarian concerns like these make you left, what’s right?
