OJAI : Casitas District OKs Tougher Water Plan
- Share via
Casitas Municipal Water District directors approved a five-year water management plan Wednesday that calls for stronger conservation efforts.
The district board will consider adopting higher rates and water allocations in the next several months for its 2,884 customers in western Ventura, Ojai Valley and along the coastal Rincon area.
The board declared a water-shortage emergency in April and appealed to all its residential, commercial and resale customers to voluntarily cut back water use by 20%.
Overall consumption dropped by 19% through November.
But, outside the city of Ventura, the district’s other customers achieved only 4% of that reduction, a Casitas spokesman said.
