CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN BERNARDINO : 68 Medical Reservists Called for Gulf Duty

Sixty-eight medical reservists assigned to the 445th Military Airlift Wing at Norton Air Force Base here have been called to duty in Operation Desert Shield, the Air Force has announced.
The members of the 42nd Aeromedical Patient Staging Squadron are capable of setting up and staffing a 100-bed facility that would provide interim care for injured troops before they are taken to hospitals. The group, about equally divided between men and women, includes doctors, nurses and medical technicians.
Their call-up is expected to last 179 days, beginning last Thursday. They are scheduled to depart for the Middle East on Sunday.
