Shields vs. Saudi Arabia: Brooke Shields may be too hot for Saudi Arabia. Shields had been planning to leave today under the auspices of the USO to visit U.S. troops in Operation Desert Shield but the Saudi government refused to issue her a visa on the grounds that she is “a young, single, female entertainer,” the New York Daily News reported. Shields said she had planned to follow strict Muslim codes of dress and behavior for women while in Saudi Arabia and was disappointed to learn that she wouldn’t be going.
