Police are investigating the robbery, stabbing and brief kidnaping of a Virginia man Sunday by three men who got into a hit-and-run accident in the victim’s car before fleeing on foot, police said.
James Albertson, 66, of Arlington, Va., suffered a minor wound when his attackers stabbed him with a screwdriver, a police spokesman said. He did not need hospitalization.
Albertson had just left the TGI Friday’s restaurant, in the 8800 block of Villa La Jolla Drive in La Jolla, at 6:30 p.m. when three men forced him into his rented car and drove on Interstate 5 to the South Bay, the spokesman said.
Along the way, the assailants hit another vehicle, whose driver chased them to the 200 block of Calle Camera in National City before the attackers fled on foot, the spokesman said.
Albertson had been stabbed and robbed of his wallet and $430 in cash.
