American Mobile to Buy Assets, Merge Systems

American Mobile Systems Inc., a Woodland Hills operator of mobile radio systems, said it reached a preliminary agreement to acquire certain assets owned by Johnson Communications Corp., a mobile radio systems operator based in Atlanta, for $1.5 million and other considerations.
Under the proposed deal, revealed in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, American Mobile will also form two joint ventures with Johnson Communications. The first will combine the two companies’ systems in central and western Florida, while the second will join their Atlanta systems.
