FILLMORE : Pole Manufacturer Lays Off 39 Workers
- Share via
Ameron has laid off 39 employees from the Pole Products division in Fillmore and notified 12 other workers that they will lose their jobs at the utility pole plant in November.
Company officials said the layoffs were the result of a division reorganization after Ameron’s purchase of Centrecon, a Washington state pole manufacturer. Some of the manufacturing operations from the Fillmore facility are to be transferred to a plant in Tulsa, Okla., which was part of the Centrecon acquisition.
About 145 workers will remain at the Fillmore plant, officials said. The company plans to assist its former employees in finding new jobs and will keep them on the payroll for two months, in addition to their severance pay.
Ameron has manufactured light and utility poles in Fillmore since 1970.
