COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT : WEEKDAY UPDATE : UCLA : Smith Going From Potential to Player
- Share via
UCLA fullback Kevin Smith has gained 305 yards in six games, averaging 4.6 yards a carry. That’s not a startling figure, but it’s the most yards gained by a Bruin fullback since Mel Farr Jr. rushed for 307 yards through 12 games in 1985.
Smith was a third-string fullback at the start of the season.
“Every week that Kevin Smith plays, he gains more confidence,” UCLA Coach Terry Donahue said. “He was a potential player before. Now he’s developing into a player.”
