Man Killed, Thrown From Auto

A man whose body was found Friday at a busy MacArthur Park-area intersection had been shot and then thrown from a moving auto, police said.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, apparently suffered massive head injuries after being shot in the head, Rampart police said. There was no immediate identification of the body.
The Westlake area has been plagued in recent months by an onslaught of heroin and crack cocaine activity, prostitution and gang shootings that have been attributed to police sweeps that cleared out the troubled park but drove hundreds of people into the surrounding residential neighborhood.
A resident of the area said Friday: “There are police all over the place. I heard that an old woman saw the shooting and then ran away because she was so scared.”
