A 31-year-old man was killed early Wednesday when his car ran into the back of a flatbed truck on southbound Interstate 5 in Oceanside, the California Highway Patrol said.
Franklin Kevin Doorn of Vista was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, Gustavo Hurtado of Huntington Park, was uninjured, the CHP said.
The accident occurred about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday when Doorn, traveling south on I-5 near the Fourth Street over-crossing in Oceanside, crashed into some lumber sticking out of the back of Hurtado’s 1964 Chevrolet flatbed truck.
