Five suspects in one of the city’s biggest burglaries pleaded not guilty this week in Alhambra Municipal Court to charges they stole 50,000 watches valued at nearly $500,000 from a Monterey Park warehouse.
Being held in lieu of $500,000 bail were Hung Tho Su, 22, of Baldwin Park and Johnny Hin Ho, 21, of Los Angeles. In custody on $250,000 bail were Lay Phuong Tang, 23, Kao Fong, 26, and Mui Ly, 25, all of Los Angeles.
The watches, which have an average price of about $10 each, were reported stolen Sept. 5 from a storage facility operated by Image Watches Inc., 400 S. Atlantic Blvd., Lt. James Burks said.
The suspects were arrested after detectives negotiated the purchase of the stolen timepieces during an undercover sting Oct. 3, Burks said. Also recovered were two assault rifles and a handgun.
