INDIAN WELLS, Calif. — Tennessee’s Mike DePalmer, who coached the Vols to a 34-0 record before losing in the NCAA tennis championship match to Stanford, has been selected the coach of the year by his peers.
DePalmer was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Assn.’s National Coach of the Year during a banquet Wednesday night in Indian Wells, where the individual NCAA championships continue.
“The team championship was the No. 1 priority, but this is a pretty good secondary thing,” DePalmer said.
