Woman Killed as Car Plunges Off Ocean Cliff

A woman was killed Wednesday when her station wagon plunged off a road and crashed at the bottom of a 300-foot ocean cliff in Palos Verdes Estates, police reported.
The woman, identified as Martha Howard, 55, was thrown from the car.
A passerby spotted Howard’s vehicle at the bottom of the cliff in the 1300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West in the Bluff Cove area about 3 p.m. and flagged down police.
Howard’s body was found nearby.
Police were investigating whether the death was a suicide.
