SALT LAKE CITY — Police arrested a man who allegedly robbed a bank in order to come up with a tip for a waitress.
The man became concerned when he went to pay the $4 bill for his lunch. “After he ate, he told the waitress: ‘I don’t have enough money for a tip, but I’m going to go rob a bank and I’ll be back,’ ” said the restaurant’s supervisor.
The man allegedly walked across the street to First Interstate Bank, told the teller he had a gun and demanded all of the $20s, police said. He fled with about $1,200 and entered the restaurant, where he gave the waitress a $2 tip, police said.
