TWA Unions Mulling Bid: The machinists union at Trans World Airlines said it intends to make an offer for an employee buyout of the carrier. Cliff Cranfill, a spokesman, said thus far the pilots union has said it would join. A spokesman for TWA Chairman Carl C. Icahn said no proposal has yet been made and that the unions have long been talking about such a move. Icahn has said he will sell the airline’s domestic routes if he cannot get union concessions.
