Applicants Sought for Grand Jury Duty
Ventura County is looking for civic-minded people willing to serve the county for 25 to 35 hours a week as members of the 1990-91 grand jury.
Jurors receive only mileage compensation for their work, but they are empowered to probe the management of the various departments of the county government. They may also be called upon to rule on requests for indictments by county prosecutors against criminal suspects.
“A grand jury produces a final report at the end of the year; it kind of gives a report card on what’s going on in the county,” said Brian Miller, administrative assistant to Supervisor Jim Dougherty. Miller said the jurors’ term will run from July 3, 1990, through June 30, 1991, but applications must be returned to Dougherty’s office by April 13.
Applications may be obtained by calling (805) 584-4811, or by visiting the office at 3190 Cochran St. in Simi Valley.
