Transient Killed Trying to Board Moving Train

A transient trying to board a moving freight train on Southern Pacific Railroad tracks near 14400 San Fernando Road in Sylmar was killed Tuesday afternoon when he fell onto the tracks and was run over, police said.
The man appeared to be in his mid-30s but had not been identified by Tuesday evening, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Sol Polen.
