T-Bill Yields Edge Higher: Yields for 13-week and 26-week T-bills edged up at the government’s weekly auction. The Treasury Department auctioned $8 billion of 13-week bills at an average discount of 7.97%, up from 7.96% at last week’s auction, and the highest since Aug. 21, when the auction yielded 7.99%. The government also sold $8 billion of 26-week bills at an average discount of 7.92%, up from 7.89% last week--and the highest rate since Oct. 2, when the rate also stood at 7.92%. The discount rate understates the actual yield to investors. The investment rate was 8.25% on the 13-week bills at an average price of $9,798.50 per $10,000 face value. The investment rate on the 26-week bill was 8.36% at an average of $9,599.60 per $10,000.
