SAN FRANCISCO — Famed X-rated entertainment producer Artie Mitchell remained hospitalized for hypothermia today after he and several family members were rescued from a dangerous riptide off Ocean Beach, officials said.
Mitchell, 44, was at the beach Sunday with three of his children, his brother Jim, and two of Jim’s children when several of the youngsters got caught in the tide.
“It was pretty ugly,” said Mitchell, who was in fair and stable condition recovering from hypothermia at the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center. “I’m really happy to be alive. I almost kicked off in the emergency room . . . but it looks like I’m going to pull through it.”
The Mitchells operate Mitchell Bros. Film Group and are the city’s most famous promoters of adult films and theaters.
