Britain’s Linford Christie tied the European indoor 60-meter record of 6.51 seconds in his bid to surpass Carl Lewis as the world’s top sprinter.
“I want to be the fastest athlete on Earth,” Christie said after the international meet, where he matched the European mark set by Marian Woronin of Poland in 1987.
Christie is the European 100 meters champion and Seoul Olympics silver medalist.
